RIP GOOGLE READER

Ahhh yes. It truly is the end of an era. Google Reader is shutting its doors to a world of blog and website subscription. Kind of annoyed by the news as I love my Google Reader to catch up on my blog roll, but at the same time excited to get back on to Bloglovin. And that is exactly where you will find A&D listed too :)
Bloglovin even have made it easy to transfer your blog roll on to theirs.
And if you are also a fellow blogger 1) Make sure you have registered your blog on Bloglovin and 2) Leave me the link to your Bloglovin below!

So make sure you say your peace with Google Reader and switch over to (my preferred method of catching up on blogs) Bloglovin. Follow Amped & Dangerous on Bloglovin by clicking here.

TRENDY: TRANSPARENT / CLEAR CLUTCH

So I am still obsessing over accessories and bags. I am devastated that my beautiful Fossil bag has lost its zipper, and now I am reeling at the idea of having to get myself a new bag. So I went in search for some inspiration when I came across this kick ass post from Vintage Virgin, where Jess V. parades in her beautiful attire matched perfectly with a sleek transparent clutch. And of course, what a perfect transition into Spring/Summer than arming yourself with one of the season’s biggest trends; a transparent clutch.

TRENDY: SPORTY/ATHLECTIC WATCHES

Gone are the days that we preferred the sleek and simple Swatches to the gigantic, obnoxious sports watches like the classic Baby-Gs. Well, I am here to tell you that those bulky pieces of electronic 90s goodness are coming back with a bang! Although slightly more updated might I add.

TRENDY: CLAWED NAILS

Rawrrrr. Seriously feline friends, the clawed nail has seen a resurgence in the last couple of months. With artists such Gaga, Rihanna, Adele and Lana Del Ray all getting pointy - it doesn't look like its going to die away easily. So we might as well embrace the Wolverine inside us all.

TRENDY: DENIM OVERALLS

Lets all be honest, it doesn't matter if you were a kid in the 70s, 80s, 90s or the early 00s. You most probably had a version of denim overalls. And believe me when I say this, I had the long pairs, the short pair as well as the skirt version. Ohhh yeah, I liked my overalls. Or rather my mother did.

Denim Overalls - its totally the next big trend. I've seen dribs and drabs of this trend emerging through the masses. But its hard to distinguish how many of those early adopters were (1) spotted on their lunch break from having painted their walls/fences all morning in their Dad's old overalls and how many of them were (2) seriously wearing overalls as a statement.

LATEST VENTURE: BIG CARTEL

First of all, Happy Anzac Day fellow Australians.

So. I bit the bullet and took advice from some very encouraging friends and opened up an online shop for a lot of my DIYs. So shop on through to A+D SHOP for some Neon Hardware.

I have been obsessed with hardware and industrial materials, and the way this looks against quite bright and contrasting neon colours. So I have been experimenting with different DIYs from the internet and some from my own imagination. I have had so much fun with this whole process that I actually went the full hog and started working on a digital look book - which is what we have below here.

Feel free to share this link to other neon accessory lovers. And as the look book's manifesto says:
ENJOY, SHARE AND BE INSPIRED.

Update**** Interestingly enough, I was featured on The Thousand website today in regards to these neon jewels. Very very very flattered. For that article, have a read here.

Wish me luck on this new adventure. Its going to be a short and sweet - as I am not planning to do it for the long run - ie. ALL THESE PIECES ARE ONE OFF'S AND UNIQUE :) For any information / queries - get in contact! All my social media links are on the left hand pane beside this post.

Have a good rest of your week,
Talk to you soon.

Even more recent update*** I will be selling my wares now on Etsy as well. So click here for that link.

LUSTING: GOLD BLOCKED HEEL

You probably have already seen these. But I just can't get enough.

This is going to sound random and weird... But the gold blocked heel first haunted me in late September of 2011. I was minding my own business in a David Jones footwear department where these two Japanese flight attendants (I know this because of their uniform) were also in the same department. One of them had these super cool, blocked heel black patent shoes on. Only one difference, the blocked heel was plated gold. I literally just stood there staring at the heels mid trying on a pair of Miu Mius in vain.

First thought that went through my mind: How do I DIY that?
Second: I need to know where these heels are from.

But just as I mustered the courage to go and ask the on trend lady about her ballin' court heels, they walked away. Eever since then I have been trying to figure out where the gold plated block heel first reared its fabulous head. Something tells me it was either YSL or Marc Jacobs. But I have found no evidence. Now however, they are all over the shop - Topshop in particular through their heel bootie.

Nevertheless, I am still asking the same two questions: How do I DIY these and where did they originate from? Tell me Amped people, do you know????

TRENDY: TAUPE SHADOW

I was reading up articles on Cushnie Et Ochs (one of my favourite labels at the moment) in Nylon & The Coveteur and stumbled across their Fall/Winter 11 lookbook. And I was drawn to the make up - a simple Taupe smokey eye.

TRENDY: MID HEEL BOOTS

I see three types of shoes going all the rage at the moment. Creepers, Doc Martens & these mid heel boots. Yep, I definitely see that al three are winter shoes but hey, we Australians are always chasing our seasons! Why should it be any different with our footwear.
TOPSHOP CHELSEA BOOTS • RUMI'S ISABEL MARRANT BOOTS

Doc Martens have aways been around and kicking, so thats not really trending. Creepers, I think is a selective style - I love them on other people, but you won't catch me wearing them anytime soon ;)
But these super cute "am I a heel??; am I boot??" shoes are definitely a trending favourite.

AIMEE IN THAKOON ANKLE BOOT • KATE BOSWORTH IN ISABLE MARRANT

The early adopters among us have found their pair possibly at Topshop in the name of the Allegra boot (no longer available but there are so many more fabulous options, pictured below), or perhaps the Dolcetta's over at Urban Outfitter's (picture below)**. But our middle laggers aren't left behind, thanks to Sportsgirl keeping their mid heel boots still on sale :)
**Is the ease of online shopping anymore evident than now...

TRENDY: POLKA DOTS

Gooooooooooooood Morning!
How are you lovely people this fine Wednesday? I am fabulous. Spotty and fabulous ;)
I am here today with another TRENDY post. And I am sure we all saw this one coming.

The polka dot.
Its simple, classic and very feminine. But this hasn't stopped the men in sporting these in a very stylish way! Marc Jacobs the classic polka dot a revamp in his Spring/Summer 2011 show and since then its been sported by many good people looking for a timeless yet striking look.

The polka dot.
Is also one of the most flattering of prints. It covers and hides a lot of bumps and ... more bumps ;)
I am slight more than obsessed with this Gorman Spring collection. I am coveting that sheer white top with the polka dot sleeve and the cream polka dot pants :)

The polka dot.
This season it seems, that the classic black and white polka dot is what seems to be in vogue. Weather its double polka dot, or mixed with some other pop colours (like the cobalt blue shorts below) I have also seen some mix their B&W polka dot mixed with leopard. Not trust me, it looked gooooooood!
And if you can't commit to a complete head to toe polka dot look like below, opt for either a pair of sheer polka dot stockings or the Jeffrey Campbell Foxy's above (available through Solestruck or Jeffrey Campbell online). ORRRRR the beautiful! Victoria Secret polka dot rucksack below. Although I do believe that this lovely is sold out. Sad face.

The polka dot.
I think looks the best and on trend if you pick a fresh mix of colours. Like the Marc Jacobs top as worn beautifully by Blake Lively for Glamour Magazine. Its sheer (yay!) and all white. Perfect for summer 2011. Or the mix of red and white polka dot socks as worn by super cool dude in the last photo :) Another way to update the polka dot (cause if you're like me, we're probably raiding our op shops for polka dots from days gone by) is to mix prints. Like I mentioned above, when I saw the lovely lady mixing polka dot and leopard, I was like damn! Girl knows how to mix and match, and it really just transformed the two trends to another level. Or even notice (below, Blake Lively) how the green snake print boots mixes really well with the blue and white polka dot sox. It just works.

So let mix it up a little and get your polka dot one. But I tell you one thing you should try and avoid.... looking like Minnie Mouse :) Good luck!

Have a lovely day people, and I can't wait to see how you're mixing up the polka dot!
XOXOXOXO

TRENDY: DECONSTRUCTED

I HAVEN'T REALLY MUCH TO SAY ON THIS DREAM OF A TREND EXCEPT THAT I AM LOVING IT. AND ITS GOING TO BE HUUUUUUGE.

DECONSTRUCTED FASHION, TOPS, COATS, JACKETS, SHIRTS, PANTS, SHORTS - You name it, Deconstruction is the word. I love it.

YOU COULD EVEN DRAW COMPARISON OF THIS TREND TO A MULLET. Depending on your social setting, business at the front and party in the back!

Taking a cue from the weather, us Aussies probably wouldn't be able to rock the coat/jacket version of these lovelies - but hey nothing is stopping us/me from making and then rocking some deconstructed action.

Literally take two matching (or if you're daring unmatching) fashion garment of your choice, disect it length ways and sew up the two parts. I wonder if I'd be game to rock a whole head to toe deconstructed look....

CHALLENGE ACCEPTED!
Now all I need is a sewing machine... Like seriously.

TALK SOON MON CHERIES!
XOXOX
