HELLO THERE,
How are you? How was the weekend? I trust that it was splendid and you are well rested.
So lets stop with the rhyming and continue on with some new music lovin'.
1. JONATHAN BOULET - TROUNCE
(its a pretty cool video clip, so I'm keeping the full on for this!)
No joke, I have been listening to this song ALL WEEKEND (as I am sure every Triple J listener have been too as it was probably the most played record after Django Django!). Jonathan Boulet, the name may sound familiar because of this song. A multi-instrument talent, he pretty much plays and records everything himself. This song is catchy, vivacious and super tribal. Cant wait to hear more from the new record - which will be out June and is called "We Keep The Beat, Found The Sound, See The Need, Start The Heart".
2. ZEDS DEAD & OMAR LINX - COFFEE BREAK
The sample of Aretha Franklin's I Say A Little Prayer For You just sets this song off on a right note. But Zeds Dead and Omar LinX just turn it all around with killer beats. Then at around the 56 second mark, the mood just changes all over again with some dub step beats. Zeds Dead and Omar LinX have teamed up for a great mix tape ; Victor (for your free download of that click here) and trust me there is more amazingness where this track came from. Check out this, its one of my favourite.
3. VIOLAS - SEA SHELLS
If you like bands like The Boat People, Bombay Bicycle and all other folk indie rock, you'll dig these guys. Violas's Sea Shells song has all the right elements, from the lyrics to the soothing drum and guitar work. Its a great one for early mornings and Sunday lounge sessions. Violas are a band from Wales (you can definitely hear the accent in the song) and are so underrated and fresh. With only 400+ fans on their Facebook page, these guys definitely are in need of some deserved exposure!
4. VACATIONER - GOOD AS NEW
Awww, what a nice one to finish off with. Vacationer brings us a super optimistic track with some very interesting samples being used throughout. I just want to sing this out loud ..."Feeling gooooood as newwww".... Tell me you don't just get all smiley and happy hearing it. Vacationer are an electro soul outfit from New York I believe and their new one "Gone" is out now, so if you're feeling blue, definitely go and pick that one up. :)
And on that happy note, I leave you to battle the rest of the week!
Have a good one.
