HELLO HELLO.
NEW MUSIC MONDAY ROLLS AROUND THIS FINE APRIL 11.
AND I AM VERY EXCITED.
They all have a little urban and soul flavour to them. All in theme really as I am headed to Supafest Music Festival this Saturday!!!
Hoping to bring my DSLR to take some pics.
If not my SLR then definitely borrowing my mother's point and shoot.
Some of the artist showing at Supafest: Snoop Dogg (HECK YESSSSS! I AM A BIG FAN) / Timbaland (although I heard rumours he cancelled) / Busta Rhymes / Ciara / Kerri Hilson / T-Pain etc etc etc ... :) Currently debating on an outfit.
So on to some new music for your Monday.
1. REGGIE WATTS
Lets get this genius out of the way! This man is one of my idols, NO DOUBT!
I heard this morning live on Triple J's Breakfast show with Tom & Alex. And realistically the song that improved on the radio is the one I wanna preview to you. But I can nayyyyy find it anywhere.
So I am showing you instead a clip from his tour with Conan O'Brien. Reggie Watts is a genius with a loop machine and such a soulful singer. I think on his resume comedian comes first before musician, but who cares when you can have best of both worlds :) There are multitudes of videos of his on Youtube, so I suggest on a rainy Sunday - when you're locked in with a good cup of cafe, google you some Reggie Watts. He will literally sing the blues away.
2. THE WEEKND - WICKED GAMES
I was introduced to this amazingness by the lovely Dee from The Good Good Blog. I took her advice and took some time to listen to The Weeknd. Imagine by absolute enthusiasm when I found out that their whole mixtape is available for free :D I keep explaining the sound from The Weeknd's mixtape: House of Balloons as the "new RnB". I mean I will be the first to put it out there that RnB as a genre is dying out on the radio. Except for a few artist in America.. there aren't many pure RnB artists left. So of course there is a call for an new experimental RnB sound. And The Weeknd fills this void. PLS KEEP AN OPEN MIND WHEN LISTENING TO THIS STUFF. TOO MANY PPL WILL WRITE OFF NEW GENRES.
3. MALUCA - EL TIGRESSO
Another friend find. My lovely friend and crazy talented write (slash budding photographer) Dom at Create & Collaborate introduced me to Maluuuuucaaaa (you gotta say it with a fiesty latin accent - go on try it!) I reaalllllly dig this one song. Dom assures me that Maluca's mixtape is on fire! However I have only found that this is the song that I cannot get out of my head! You'll be mamasita and papa'ing all day! You can find Maluca's China Food mixtape here and make up your mind about it :)
4. MELLOWHYPE - HELL FT FRANK OCEAN
There really isn't much I can say about the artists or the song to be honest. This song is just so mother effin catchy! A Lupe Fiasco vibe for sureeeee. And I dig the bridge section... ahhh just so catchy. Frank Ocean is certainly becoming a big favourite of mine. Who of course if you're interested also has a mixtape out called Nostalgia, Ultra here.
But apart from that, I am all out for new music :)
So pleasssssssseeee send me some of your new music my way!!
